Anwesha’s primary works are based on oils but also extends to charcoal drawings. She works to create representational art that depicts the contemporary world but carries the charm of the romantic era, with scenes creating a restful pause, reflective and meditative. The subjects for her paintings are diverse, with landscapes spanning through continents and still-life from the silent corners of a home; from children in their ever-changing moods, to animals in moments of quiet solitude. Her favorite subject though remains the same, flowers, ever inspiring with their joyous beauty and delicacy.
The paintings are done in the alla-prima technique and involve detailed work with a hint of the impressionism. All of this is achieved through a limited palette of primarily five basic colors. The artist wishes to share through her work the magic that a little bit of patience and a handful of color enables.
The artist provides private tutoring in drawing and oil painting from her studio in Memphis.
